This is what happens everyday...
06-12-2012 "Icon"
During our lives we learn to embrace particular icons which we relate to things we like or respect. Later in our lives, when we have better criteria, we may find our faith in such icons was not properly grounded, but we will not turn our backs on them anyway.
This seems to be a common situation when it comes to sports. In my case, this icon could be our inconsistently performing national team, locally know as "La Sele". Frustrating as it may be, we never fail to stop whatever we are doing to watch them play, even when the likeliness of a bad result is quite high.
In the end, it is probably a matter of faith: we have icons we will never give up on, no matter how bad things look.06-16-2012 "Shift to Greater Things"
Thinking big is just the first step. Doing big things is a bit harder, but if you get some action behind all that thinking, you may find it is possible and totally worth it too!
Costa Rican band Time's Forgotten has done precisely that: they have worked hard to make things happen and this night they reached a new height and set the bar for the local bands to follow.
Likewise, after such an inspiring performance, I am convinced that we all can shift to greater things if we are willing to think big and put some sweat behind that.06-08-2012 "Communicate"
Communication only works when there is someone with a message and someone who receives that message through a channel... and understands what the other party means by interpreting though a code. Simple, right?
Well, no. The day to day of our times shows we communicate very poorly. We might send our "message in a bottle" and have no one ever read it, much less reply to it. This very words I am writing have the exact same risk...
When I saw these payphones in a local park, very late at night, I changed my subject from the local church (beautiful by the way, I will get back to it soon!) and started thinking about how these things represent our communication: they are right there, they are extra cheap and still you rarely see anyone using them. Just like our brains and mouths most of the time.
Let us make a better effort and let us try to communicate!
