08-23-2012 "The Sky at the End of the World"
Whenever I have had dreams of big disasters and the end of our way of life, I have seen the sky like this... some times with a red tint, sometimes orange and sometimes just like this.
So, when I played a bit with my camera and got this effect, I could not help but utter a little nervous laugh... you know, being 2012 and all of that hogwash :-)08-19-2012 "The Green Mirror"
I have only driven around this place a few times, but I stop every time. I just find this place extremely calm and the scenery is awesome. If you look into the waters, it is like looking into another world where everything has a slight green tint to it.
This leads me to think we all have our own little mirror to color things our way... it is evident in our day to day interactions that most of us see the same thing, but with slight variations we introduce ourselves, based on our beliefs and our knowledge.
In some extreme cases, the hues are so different people end up fighting over the differences of something that ends up being pretty much the same thing: the only difference is the point of view.08-18-2012 "True Power"
It is funny how we think of ourselves as the most powerful lifeform in the planet. We have our cars, planes, war machines... all of those things make us more dangerous, maybe, but powerful? I do not think so.
True power is not firepower, is not politics, is not economics. True power is the enraged sea hitting the coast, the millions of volts of a lightning bolt hitting a tree or the earth crumbling under our feet during an earthquake.
We are not powerful. We just have a VIP seat to the show.07-17-2012 "Our new afternoons"
While sitting in traffic I looked out of the window and snapped this shot... back in the day, this was a lone rural road with just trees and fields all around. Today it is a bustling commerce center with traffic issues.
Times changed from the old afternoons when we would look up to this scene and see the trees and the clouds and the sky... now you can see all the electric, cable TV and Internet connections coming and going.
Not that I am complaining about the ability we now have to connect with each other, I am just saying that the afternoons in some places will never look the same again.06-06-2012 "The Left Eye of God"
He does not seem very happy right now... It is easy to see stuff in the lightplay of the moon on a night like this, where the thin veil of fog and some fast and low clouds are free to play.
This, to me, looked like an imposing and severe eye, looking down on us: poor, pretentious and for the most part not very well behaved human race. I can only hope that if there is a big eye like this out there, it has a gentler disposition!05-30-2012: "Add perspective to things..."
If we need to find our place in this world, we just need to walk out on a night like this one and look up: this immense lightning bolt is a very effective reminder of how little and powerless we really are. Once we get the message, we can go back and work on being better people and know our limitations and understand others as well.
